Inafa’ Maolek Congratulates the Winners of the First Annual Bed Race
HAGATNA, GU – November 23, 2010 – The Inafa’ Maolek Conciliation hosted its First Annual Inafa’ Maolek Bed Race on November 20, 2010 at Skinner Plaza in Hagåtña. 18 teams competed against each other in three divisions: men’s, co-ed, and youth. Each winning team received a one of kind, 16.5 inch Ifit wood trophy, specially made by Master Carver Robert Taitano and bragging rights for the entire year. Inafa’ Maolek is pleased to congratulate the following winners:

Teams had the opportunity to decorate their beds and were judged on creativity, use of natural materials and adherence to the theme of “respect our island and our culture.”
“What were they thinking?” Award: Team Xerox

Showing great enthusiasm and sportsmanship, Team Xerox earned this award due to their wacky thinking of having their teams make a “pit stop” in front of their office building during the second leg of the race to hydrate their racers and take pictures!
The funds raised from the event will be used to continue the programs and services offered at Inafa’ Maolek. Inafa’ Maolek has been engaged in helping to create a more peaceful community through our offerings of mediation, restorative justice, conflict coaching services and conflict resolution education throughout our island.
